First ACE2-EU "Train-the-Trainer" Programme Held at the Polytechnic University of Santarém
From 6 to 8 July, the first Train-the-Trainer programme organised by the SPACE Centre took place at the Polytechnic University of Santarém (Instituto Politécnico de Santarém, IPS). The training forms part of the implementation of the Changemaker Ambassador Programme, which is designed for students and staff across the ACE2-EU Alliance. The programme aims to strengthen changemaking competencies throughout the Alliance and provide participants with knowledge of innovative approaches to addressing societal challenges.
The main objective of the Train-the-Trainer programme was to develop the facilitation skills of academic and administrative staff from the partner universities and prepare them to deliver the Changemaker Ambassador Programme at their home institutions. During the training, participants were introduced to the Dialogue Circle Method as well as the Theory of Change approach, which supports the planning of
activities, collaboration with students and external stakeholders, and the evaluation of the impact of initiatives.
Representatives of the Latvian Academy of Culture's SPACE Centre, Ieva Zemīte and Asnāte Kalēja, also contributed to the design and delivery of the training programme. They introduced participants to the principles of systems thinking and presented the Theory of Change as a practical tool for planning activities and assessing their impact.
Considerable attention was also devoted to the further development of the Changemaker Ambassador Programme. Next year, nine programme editions are planned across all nine ACE2-EU partner universities, providing 72 students with the opportunity to participate in international mobility, develop future leadership competencies, and collaborate with academic and community partners to design and implement solutions to current societal challenges.
