ACE²-EU Volunteers Contribute to an International Art Exhibition in Riga
This autumn, the ACE RISE (Reach, Inspire, Serve, Engage) volunteering programme of the ACE²-EU European University Alliance has brought two students to Riga from the alliance’s partner institutions: Constantin Brâncuși University of Târgu Jiu in Romania and Santarém Polytechnic University in Portugal.
From 19 to 25 October, the volunteers are working at the contemporary art space TUR_telpa in the Tallinas Quarter, assisting in the preparation of the exhibition “Blockbusters”, created in collaboration with the Belgian art collective De Aaimachine. The exhibition features works by 50 artists from Riga and 50 artists from Antwerp. As part of their volunteering experience, the students contribute to the installation and presentation of the exhibition, helping to bring artists’ ideas and messages to life within the exhibition space.
In addition to their practical experience, the participants have completed a 25-hour online course covering civic responsibility, solidarity, and intercultural communication. Upon completion of the programme, each volunteer receives a certificate of participation and 2 ECTS credits.
The aim of the ACE RISE programme is to strengthen students’ civic engagement, intercultural competences, and social responsibility by providing opportunities to contribute to community-oriented and cultural organisations in other countries.
These are the final international volunteers hosted by the Latvian Academy of Culture in 2026. However, the programme will continue in 2027, offering new opportunities to engage with local community and cultural organisations. Information about the 2027 programme and application process will be available at the end of November on the ACE²-EU Alliance website: https://www.ace2eu.eu/ace-rise-volunteering-programme.
