ACE²-EU Reviews Progress and Outlines the Alliance’s Future Development in Gdańsk
On 8–9 September, the Medical University of Gdańsk hosted a meeting of the ACE²-EU European University Alliance Management Board, held in conjunction with the NAWA (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange) conference “The Future of ACE²-EU Alliance”.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the progress achieved so far across the Alliance’s work packages, planned the process for preparing and submitting the mid-term report, and discussed the Alliance’s future development. The conference focused on the role of European University Alliances and the challenges they face in contributing to the development of higher education institutions. It also provided a valuable opportunity to learn from the experience of other Polish universities involved in European University Alliances.
The Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC) was represented by Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Assoc. Prof. Agnese Hermane and Assoc. Prof. Ieva Zemīte. During the meeting, Ieva Zemīte also presented the results of the LAC-led SPACE Centre (Societal Partnerships and Cultural Engagement Centre) work package. The presentation highlighted the team’s achievements in social and cultural engagement, including the international volunteering programme, the Changemakers Programme, and the Alliance’s largest event – the student festival “Cultural Kaleidoscope”. These achievements demonstrate LAC’s active and significant contribution to the work of the ACE²-EU Alliance.
In parallel, LAC representatives also participated in other international activities in Gdańsk. Research Assistant Evarts Melnalksnis and Researcher Zane Radzobe took part in the ACE²-EU Grants Academy, held from 7 to 11 September at the Medical University of Gdańsk. During the intensive programme, participants developed their skills in preparing research grant applications through practical workshops, including the development of Horizon Europe proposals and an introduction to evaluation principles. The programme also addressed the development of international research partnerships and effective research communication.
