The Latvian Academy of Culture, with Partners from the ACE²-EU European University Alliance, Launches an International Learning Programme on Emerging Trends in the Creative Industries
The Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC), as a member of the ACE²-EU European University Alliance, in collaboration with partner universities from Lithuania, Portugal, Poland, and Spain, is launching an Erasmus+ funded international learning programme aimed at examining current trends and future development scenarios in the creative and cultural industries.
From May 26 to 30, 2025, the LAC will implement an international learning programme (a blended intensive programme – BIP) titled “Current Trends and the Future of the Creative Industries,” which will bring together students from different European countries. The programme will offer a synergy between theory and practice, providing an interdisciplinary approach and fostering the skills necessary to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing sector.
“The Latvian Academy of Culture, together with its partners, offers this unique study week as a platform for students to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamic development of the creative industries. By combining theory with practical experience, the programme will provide the knowledge and interdisciplinary skills needed to grasp the diverse development opportunities within the sector and identify its driving forces. Emphasizing the interplay between culture, technology, and entrepreneurship, we are shaping the next generation of creative leaders who will be capable of addressing future challenges,” emphasizes Ieva Zemīte, programme organizer and Head of the SPACE Centre.
The programme features lectures, workshops, and educational visits in collaboration with creative enterprises such as Locomotive Studio, Āgenskalns Market, Printful, NA Staging, and the creative space “Contakts.” Students will have the opportunity to participate in lectures about creative cities, co-creation, and gamification processes, as well as to develop research projects focused on future scenarios in the creative industries. The programme content will also be enhanced by the participation of professionals and companies from various sectors, such as information technology and computer services, film and television, video games, and social enterprises. These collaborations will offer students a unique opportunity to develop professional skills and establish new interdisciplinary partnerships.

The study programme is closely linked to the activities of the Societal Partnerships and Cultural Engagement Centre (SPACE Centre), one of the main operational directions of the ACE²-EU alliance, coordinated by LAC. Its aim is to strengthen the connection between higher education and society by fostering a European identity and cultural sustainability.
