International exchange students have arrived at the Latvian Academy of Culture
This autumn, 22 international students have arrived at the Latvian Academy of Culture to study in fields such as cultural anthropology, marketing, English language and literature, cultural management, and film directing. Most of the students come from German universities, but the Academy will also host students from France, Italy, Slovakia, Poland, Turkey, and Kazakhstan.
Last Monday, the new exchange students gathered at the Academy to get to know their study environment, its surroundings, each other, and to learn about upcoming activities. The week continued with various events in Riga and Jūrmala, allowing students to better get to know the place where they will live for the next five months.
On Tuesday, students visited the LAC Miera Street premises, explored the National Film School and the Film Museum. On the same day, they also had the opportunity to discover local and international art at the Latvian National Museum of Art. On Wednesday, students took a guided tour through Riga’s Old Town and in the evening enjoyed Latvian folk music, snacks, and dances at Folkklubs Ala. On Thursday, they explored Jūrmala, while Friday was dedicated to Riga’s city center and Art Nouveau landmarks. The week concluded with visits to the National Library of Latvia and the Āgenskalns Market.
