Latvian Academy of Culture joins the international research network on children's digital experiences “EU Kids Online”

From 2025, the Institute of Arts and Cultural Studies of the Latvian Academy of Culture (LAC IACS) has become the Latvian representative in the international research network “EU Kids Online”, which brings together academic partners from more than 30 European countries. The network is led by the University of Oslo (Prof. Elisabeth Staksrud) and aims to explore digital environment experiences of children and adolescents (aged 9–16) - both the opportunities it offers and the risks it entails. The project is coordinated by Gints Klāsons, research project manager of the LAC IACS.

Researchers at the Latvian Academy of Culture contribute new insights into the development of Latvian philosophical thought during the Soviet era

In January 2025, a new research initiative was launched at the Latvian Academy of Culture under the Fundamental and Applied Research Programme: “Conversions and Ruptures: Epistemic Strategies in Latvian Philosophy during the Soviet Period (1944–1991)” (Project No. lzp-2024/1-0650). The study focuses on two critical periods of transformation (1944–1953 and 1981–1991) during which the relationship between intellectuals and political power became particularly significant. The project will result in both academic and popular science publications, as well as presentations at international conferences and public events.

Creative Industries Up Close: Students Explore Diverse Enterprises During Learning Week

From 26 to 30 May, the Latvian Academy of Culture, together with partner universities from Lithuania, Portugal, Poland, and Spain within the European University Alliance ACE2-EU, will host an international learning week titled “Current Trends and the Future of the Creative Industries”, during which students will explore the dynamics of the creative industries and their diverse development opportunities. As part of the programme, students will have the opportunity to visit creative industry enterprises such as “Āgenskalns Market”, film studio “Locomotive”, “Company NA” and “Printful Latvia”.

Representatives of the Latvian Academy of Culture Participate in a Conference on the Governance and Cooperation of European University Alliances in Gdańsk

From 14 to 16 May 2025, the Medical University of Gdańsk will host an international conference bringing together representatives of the European University Alliance ACE²-EU. The aim of the event is to foster synergy between the activities of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and the initiatives carried out within the ACE²-EU Alliance, while also strengthening cooperation and planning future joint projects.
